The CJ Bailey/Freshman QB Week: CFB Week 10 Advanced Stats Recap & Week 11 Look Ahead
The youth are making an impact!
The season still has a little bit of time left, but it has been very clear that there is a TON of talent at the freshman and redshirt freshman level of College Football. From DJ Lagway bombs to Ryan Williams explosive plays, and of course the highlight of our stat of the week: CJ Bailey coming in and providing a spark for the Wolfpack football team. There are so many bright futures in CFB, and im excited to see them get better and better in the passing years. As for now, let’s recap some games!
During the season if you would like to see an advanced box score of a certain game, simply email (CFBNumbers@gmail.com) or DM on Twitter (@CFBNumbers) and I will happily provide you any number related thing you desire.
Most Exciting Games Of Week 10
If there is one way for massive underdogs to make a game interesting, its by causing turnovers or having the ball bounce their way. That was the case in the Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail party.
Carson Beck struggled in this game. He threw three interceptions, two of which were the biggest plays of the game according to GameonPaper.com
This is where you see UF slowly start to climb in the win probability chart. Once DJ Lagway exited the game with a hamstring injury, it was only a matter of time before UGAs talent took over and won the game for the Dawgs.
Expectations vs. Reality
Your biggest overachievers this week in terms of betting Vegas expectations was Ole Miss, who scored 63 points when their implied total was “only” 31.5 points, and NC State, who scored 59 against Stanford when their implied total was only 28 points.
QB Play: Power 5
Here are the Power 5 QBs of the week. Our Power 5 QB of the week is Jaxson Dart after dismantling the Arkansas defense. Other QBs include Ethan Garbers, who has led UCLA to back to back wins against Nebraska and Rutgers, and CJ Bailey, a true freshman for NC State showing them the Wolfpack future is bright with him at the helm.
QB Play: Group of 5
Here are the Group of 5 QBs of the week. Ashton Jeanty is clearly the captain of the Boise State offense, but having an efficient QB like Maddux Madsen puts them at an entirely different level. Some people may never agree on a Group of 5 team being a real contender, but this Broncos offense passes the sniff test.
Stat of the Week: CJ Bailey and Freshman QB Are Making Their Mark
This season as a whole has been a tremendous year for true freshman and redshirt freshman players. Among QBs, players like Redshirt Freshman Eli Holstein and True Freshman CJ Bailey have provided sparks for their teams this season. Among the QBs who played in week 10, CJ Bailey led the way with 234 passing yards and 3 TD’s en route to their routing of Stanford.
Week 11 Implied Points
Here are the implied points for the week. Ohio State is expected to cruise right on past Purdue, same with Notre Dame over my Seminoles. As of now, Alabama is a 3 point favorite as they take on LSU in Baton Rouge.
Week 11 QB Matchups
We have some GREAT QB matchups this week folks. Haynes King is still day to day so it remains to be seen if he will suit up this week, but if he does it’ll be another interesting ACC QB matchup with Cam Ward. The other great matchup im interested in is the big showdown between Garrett Nussmeier and Jalen Milroe. Two great SEC QBs with vastly different play styles. What more could you ask for!
Week 11 Mismatches
Welp, there goes my fantasy of FSU finding something in the passing game,,,,
Notre Dame’s pass defense has been one of the best in the FBS this season and I can’t imagine it’ll have a hard time against this Noles offense. Elsewhere, Ohio State could have a field day through the air against a man heavy Purdue defense that might not have the guys to keep up with those vaunted Ohio State WRs. Im not sure if Bryson Daily is back for Army, but if he is, im excited for the 4/4, 86 yards, 1 TD passing line.
Lily Donation Fund
The other week turned our lives upside down for a moment as our little cat was sick. After some extensive care and a really rough surgery, she has been recovering well and back to being our tubby little girl.
I hate that I have to do this but this whole ordeal was rough financially for us. If you enjoy the articles and wish to help (which you 10000% do not have to if you do not want to) I left the link to the GoFundMe up above.
