The Jalen Milroe Week: CFB Week 11 Advanced Stats Recap + Week 12 Look Ahead
LSU could NOT stop the dual threat star this week!
I think its finally hitting me that there are only three more weeks of the CFB regular season left. While we do have an extended playoff this season… where did the time go?? I feel like this season more than ever has gone by super fast. In any event, we still have some weeks to recap and some weeks to look ahead to so let’s get started!
During the season if you would like to see an advanced box score of a certain game, simply email (CFBNumbers@gmail.com) or DM on Twitter (@CFBNumbers) and I will happily provide you any number related thing you desire.
Most Exciting Games Of Week 11
Our most exciting game of the week was between two 1 win teams trading TD’s for TD’s in a double overtime thriller:
What made this game even more exciting? I bet on UTEP so there were a rollercoaster of emotions thanks to the Miners in El Paso.
The other game I wanted to point out was Missouri - Oklahoma, which for the most part wasn’t all that noteworthy until the very end of the game.
It was 16-16 until 3 minutes left in the game, and then the flood gates broke up. Four TD’s were scored in the final three minutes, including two fumble return TD’s, one by each team. I literally missed one of the TD’s when I went to go check on our cat in the other room, it all happened so fast. In the end, Missouri was the one who came out on top of the last minute haymaker fest and they earned a win over an old rival.
Expectations vs. Reality
The over/under point total for Army vs. North Texas was set at 68 points. What was expected to be an offensive shootout turned out to be a 14-3 defensive slugfest, which explains their positioning on the graph. The biggest winners of the week include Alabama in their blowout win vs. LSU, and ECU in their blowout win against FAU.
QB Play: Power 5
Here are the Power 5 QBs of the week. Its nice to see Jalon Daniels occupying the top right quadrant after a frustrating time with injuries that have hampered his career since 2022. We will talk about Jalen Milroe in a second, but it is another week of Top Right Riley Leonard. I know the opponent (FSU) is the opponent, but Riley Leonard continues to get better in this offense every week. Watch out for the Fighting Irish!
QB Play: Group of 5
Here are the Group of 5 QBs. Katin Houser takes home the G5 QB of the week crown with 5 passing TD’s against the Owls of FAU, while Kaidon Salter is not all that far behind him.
Stat of the Week: Jalen Milroe Can Do It All
Its one thing to do it against a random opponent in September, its an entirely different thing to do it against your SEC rival under the bright lights. Jalen Milroe has been up and down in the passing game, but his ability as a runner has always been one of the best abilities in CFB. Against LSU, he ran for 185 yards and 4 TD’s as the Crimson Tide demolished LSU and (most likely) kicked them out of the playoff. Among QB rush performances against Power 5 defenses, his performance against LSU ranked the highest in Rush EPA, while his performance against Georgia also cracked the top 10. When his passing is on point, he is one of the most dangerous duel threats out there.
Week 12 Implied Points
Here are the implied points for the week. Georgia opens up a 10 point favorite against Tennesse (who might be without Nico Iamaleavea), and Texas A&M isn’t expected to be tested all that much against New Mexico State. The over/under point total for both UNT/UTSA and Washington State/New Mexico is 72.5 points!
Week 12 QB Matchups
We will have to see if Garrett Greene is ready to return to the field from injury, if he is ready to go that is your most interesting QB matchup of the week according to combined ESPN QBRs. Personally? Give me John Mateer and Devon Dampier. Thats going to be a game that really fills out the Youtube TV Quadbox.
Week 12 Mismatches
If you want to see a ground and pound domination, South Alabama might be the offense you watch this week according to the biggest mismatches. If you want to see an arial attack, perhaps Drew Allar and Penn State can get it going against a struggling Purdue defense. John Mateer and Washington State have been dominant through the air this year. As I said above, if you haven’t watched them yet this sounds like a great week to give them a shot.
Lily Donation Fund
The other week turned our lives upside down for a moment as our little cat was sick. After some extensive care and a really rough surgery, she has been recovering well and back to being our tubby little girl.
I hate that I have to do this but this whole ordeal was rough financially for us. If you enjoy the articles and wish to help (which you 10000% do not have to if you do not want to) I left the link to the GoFundMe up above.
